Frequently Asked Questions
Café
No. Ampersand Bakehouse does not have WIFI or power outlets and that’s super intentional. The space is designed to accommodate young families with babies and toddlers which, in turn, does not provide a great work environment. If you’re looking for a great cafe to get some work done, check out Poured Coffee, Zav Coffee Shop or Pomarosa.
Yes! Ampersand Bakehouse is best suited for first and second birthdays. I have a selection of toys for toddlers and a full coffee bar for the adults. This makes for a stress-free environment for friends and family to stop in for a visit with the birthday family. Check out Baby's First Birthday Party for more details.
Cakes
No, I do not have any cakes available for same-day pickup or delivery. All of my cakes need to be pre-ordered online with a minimum of one week notice. I have a rotating selection of cookies and cupcakes available for same day walk-ins.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the capacity to accept custom cake orders. All cakes must be pre-ordered online from the options available. Please note that I require a minimum of one week's notice on all cake orders.
I do not offer baking or decorating classes. You can find baking workshops in Toronto's east end at Madame Gateaux, Julienne’s Patisserie, or Magpie Cakery.
Dietary
Ampersand Bakehouse is not a nut-free environment. I offer a number of products that contain nuts. For your safety and the safety of your guests, please be aware that products at this location may contain or come in contact with peanuts, tree nuts or other allergens.
Yes! At this time, all of my cookies are vegan. I also have a growing selection of vegan cupcakes that are both diary-free and egg-free. I keep oat milk in stock as our dairy-free option for lattes. However, I do not have any products that are both vegan and gluten-free at this time.
Honestly, it’s sort of hit and miss. I have a gluten-free cupcake, but it’s not always in stock. In addition, Ampersand Bakehouse is not a gluten-free bakery so any gluten-free products may still contain traces of gluten. They are more “gluten-friendly”. I do not have any products that are both gluten-free and vegan at this time.
